[General] Department Roles - Task Breakdown

Kyle Jenkins
[17/10/14]

These are the assigned roles for The Duck Samurai team members, it will be a case of if other departments need help then people can differ if and when available, preferably when said team members complete their own sub group personal tasks, this will ofcourse cause production planning/gantt charts to change if it's a drastic piece of work that is complete by another sub group member. These are the main allocated roles, we assigned roles based on preference and skillset.

Character Work - Concepts/Modelling/Texturing
Aaran
Aidan

Aaran and Aidan will be completing any outstanding character concepts along with refinements of last years work, concept work will consist of mood boards, colour schemes, iteration work to show the complete development of our characters. They shall be doing other work like hand painted textures, poster creation for the level, UI Design and anything else that needs 2D design aside from environment concepts unless needed. These are ofcourse starting roles and they shall be modelling/texturing the characters.

Environment Work - Concepts/Modelling/Texturing
Kyle
Ben

Kyle and Ben will be completing any outstanding environment concepts that need to be done, some of the concepts where done last year for environment that we plan to reuse. Environment work will consist of art target concepts alongside a completed top down view of our level with a legend/route, mood boards and colour schemes will also be crucial to the development process, primary roles here mostly include modelling as the asset load for environment is the most fundamental aspect of our level.

Motion Capture and Animation
Mike

Mikes primary role within the team is motion capture performance based off of the feature list and controls for the game and animating said performances. Mike will act out all listed movements each of our characters will make and refine them afterwards, this will lead to engine work.

Engine
Rhys

Rhys' primary role within the team is engine work, through the course of the project he shall be viewing tutorials and creating the level in Unreal, as he makes progression as this is the final step in creating our demo, the whole team will be working in engine.

*These roles will be subject to change over the duration of the project, i.e Rhys won't be able to complete the entirety of engine work and Kyle and Ben are not expected of the team to complete every single asset fully modelled and texture alone, we plan to get all design work done in the first 5 to 6 weeks to focus on modelling assets (including characters) these sub group changes will be addressed and added to the blog.*
