[General] Final Name Ideas

Following last years discussion on name ideas for Flynn and Gauss, that were based on Latin and Japanese pronunciations for relative objects (Montem - Mountain etc) and traditional fantasy names, we talked about naming the source of all magic, the magic/crystals that have powered Voidstones factories for years, we did some research and came to a decision. We also liked the cities name as Voidstone and that it resided in a world called Arkadia so we didn't change that. We also came up with names for the fireflies and the dark magic/fireflies and a name for our art target tavern.

Arcane Magic: Energy = Acritudo = Acrinite = Blue Crystals

In the chronicles of Voidstone, we wanted pure arcane magic to a very rare thing, magic with good intention, Grimm is one of the only pure sources left of Acrinite which are blue crystals that are concentrated Acritudo. Acritudo means energy in latin, we wanted arcane magic to be what powers the factories in Voidstone, an infinite source of energy. Acritudo/Acrinite = Mana in a sense.

Fireflies = Acribugs

Green glowing flies that are drawn to the Acrinite, they get their faint green glow from the blue magical essence, these help lead Flynn during his quest (Puzzle prompts etc). The name Acribugs where taken from Acritudo (Energy bugs).

Dark Magic: Rule = Regnum = Regnimite = Purple Crystals 

Rule is Regnum in Latin which is the name of the dark magic (purple), this dark magic creates purple crystals that are concentrated dark energy known as Regnimite. Many see it as contaminated arcane magic. The reason we chose Rule as a word source was because it sums up Gauss' intentions in a single Lexis. Throughout the game purple crystals will hurt Flynn if he goes near, swarms of normal Acribugs can be contimated by these and turned against Flynn. Gauss uses these to source his power aswell as Regnimite, the rune on Gauss' head controls the Regnimite on his shoulders and the crystals control the Regnibugs which the form Gauss' blades. Dark Icon (Dark Element/Virus) > Regnimite > Regnibugs > Dark Blades (Gauss' Weapons)

Dark Fireflies: Regnibugs

The Regni is taken from Regnum which is the name of the dark magic and like with Acribugs just changed slightly, the Regnibugs emit the same dark energy as Regnimite and Gauss' himself, which has a virus like effect dispelling almost all other elements. Gauss uses concentrated dark magic (Regnimite) to manipulate regular fireflies and use them as weapons.

We looked at typical tavern names during a group session and just changed it to a preference that fitted in with our game, these pictures are also where we took reference with the fonts and designs of our tavern sign which will be uploaded in a later post, these are the names we came up with:
